Velvet and Sequins

above: me. right now I can see that you are either shocked by the fact that I am Asian (Taiwanese to be correct) or the fact that I’m a mere aspiring adolescent. Or both. I can’t quite tell. 

‘Ello! It’s me, Jasmine—author of Velvet and Sequins. Welcome to my fabulous tumblr! HERE you will find a schizophrenic assortment of the inspirations that I stumble upon everyday (music, style, fashion, photography, art, and occasional posts on film). It’s all what I love most compacted into your small tiny little computer screen. Initially, I created this tumblr as an inspiration for selfish reasons,  but then I realized..hmm since I strongly oppose trend-followers and excess spenders (unless it’s a good investment, wink*) that this might actually be a beneficial learning experience for others (maybe not as selfish as I thought). So, hopefully as you peruse through the its and bits of this tumblr, you will have absorbed a strong understanding of the eccentricities of my personality—the spontaneity and incongruent thought—while simultaneously being enlightened and fascinated by the brilliance of this industry, because it truly is amazing. OR you can spend hours obsessing over it..it depends on how much of a cynic you are.

PS: I hope I don’t come off as a fashion snob because I must admit, that occasionally I can come off as an elitist, unintentionally of course.

Finally, I must conclude with an intelligent quote by the wonderful Nina Garcia. She eloquently states, that “women with amazing personal style are powerful, intriguing and yes, even intelligent”. Be intelligent, be that woman. Don’t be the trend-follower whom I strongly oppose. Seek style not trend because fashion is an art, not a price tag. So hopefully as you muse through the inner workings of my tumblr you will learn to do just as I am doing now and commence into this wonderful journey that will cultivate your own style. BE LOUD, WEAR IT PROUD-ly. :)
